So, you’ve always wanted to work in the video production field, and now you are in college and you are looking for an internship?

Well, if you can receive academic credit for the internship, can provide a couple of recommendations, and you are a rising junior or senior with 3.0 or higher GPA, then you can be a candidate for our internship program. We are looking for college students who love working hard, and have a real desire to work in video production after graduation. The great thing is, we can accommodate interns for any semester. Typically, we don’t allow more than two interns at a time, but this summer, we were able to handle three.
Summer internships are the most sought after, and competitive. We start receiving resumes as early as December, with interviews beginning in February, and decisions made by April. We usually receive a couple dozen resumes for the coveted summer slots.
Former Running Pony intern Maddie Davis
Former Running Pony intern Maddie Davis is now at senior at Chapman University in California, and recently received a student filmmaker award for her senior thesis project. Maddie says, “To this day, I am remarkably grateful for my time interning with Running Pony. Not only did I come out of this internship with experience in a professional film environment, but I was also able to learn from incredible filmmakers in the Memphis area and discover more about the area of film I wanted to pursue. Out of the many wonderful things I could say about my time at Running Pony, I would have to say that my favorites are their focus on collaboration and their willingness to help. Each member of the team took the time to create a welcoming environment in which I could feel comfortable asking any possible question that came to my head (and having just come out of my freshman year of college, I had a lot of questions!). Every answer I received was with kindness and encouragement, and I truly felt (and still feel to this day) their warmth and support in my filmmaking career.”
As an intern, you will learn everything from what a C-stand is, to how to operate the most advanced cameras, always with a Running Pony professional by your side. Some of our interns have gone on to work for TV network shows, and/or in the film industry. While we can’t promise you that, we can promise you we’ll do our very best to tailor your internship to your goals. In other words, you will be working as a part of our field crew, but you can also get some time in our post production area as well.
Former Running Pony intern Sylvia Brookhoff
Sylvia Brookoff, another of our former interns, says, “Interning at Running Pony allowed me to experience a variety of different positions within production. From concepting to camera setup and shooting to post – I got to learn about the whole process up close (while having my many questions answered by some of Memphis’s most skilled creatives). After graduating from college, I went on to work for Nickelodeon and then HBO, Viceland, and NBC Sports. Although I recently left media, I still use the skills RPP taught me in my current job in Brand Marketing at JetBlue (an airline that will hopefully one day service Memphis). I recently oversaw a large partnership between JetBlue and VH1’s Rupaul’s Drag Race that involved a full day shoot and was still able to talk shop thanks to the foundation RPP helped set.”
